Poonch Woolen and Handicraft. (Handicraft in Jammu and Kashmir)
Poonch woolen and handicraft services is a handicraft service run by local women of poonch. Presently a total number of less than 15 women work under this association due to lack of equipment and raw materials available. These women create (make) a number of handicraft materials ie: baskets, vases, rugs, mats(hay), etc. View But Embroidery is what makes them shine bright. Yes! They embroid in different colours, styles, and patterns that makes it worth.View
A number of different products of different sizes, and quality are designed depending upon the comfort and demand. Apart from embroidery women are good at knitting,that make it sound more awesome. But lack of exposure and material, support make it hard to keep motivated.
Gabba embroidery:
Gabba is one of the native rugs(carpet) to Valley of poonch. Women in poonch are good at this art.

These women are good at different styles of embroidery eg; crewel, phulkari, etc.View samples
In past there was a good demand of embroidery and embroidered work by hands. But machines have replaced and snatched morsals of thousands. Machines had replaced the hand labour.
Basket weaving : Basket weaving is a centuries old custom of this valley. Women and men make number of baskets in different colours, styles, patterns, sizes etc. They make baskets as large as 6 feet *5 feet to 5*5 cm. Basket weaving is a beautiful craft of poonch Valley. After industrialisation women have Been recycling plastic wrappers to create baskets by mixing hay into them for strength. order your peice
Flower and vases
After trying modern trends women have been trying to make flower pots, vases, and flowers out of jute and plaster. order now
Knitting
Knitting is the most done and demanded service. Knitted products are at a good demand in winter. But as per women advent of machines have reduced their work to ground. Lack of support by government makes it more vulnerable.. find more
